Good morning.An Elmira man is facing murder charges this morning for a deadly shooting that took place in Buffalo last year. 19-year-old Amir Williams was arraigned yesterday on several felony counts, including second-degree murder and robbery. Authorities say Williams was a participant in the September 2025 shooting of Samuel Whisonant and allegedly returned to the victim’s home after the killing to steal a DVR and a gaming system. Williams is being held without bail and faces up to life in prison if convicted.A high-profile legal battle continues over the fatal crash that killed beloved Troy teacher Christine Woodward. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office is now asking the state Supreme Court to step in after an appeals court overturned the conviction of former State Trooper Michael Brown. Brown was found guilty last year of homicide by vehicle for the 2023 head-on collision, but a lower court recently ruled he deserves a new trial because a juror wasn't properly vetted. The state’s highest court will now decide if that conviction should be reinstated.And senior citizens in Chemung and Steuben counties are getting some extra help to stay safe at home. The United Way of the Southern Tier has awarded nearly 200-thousand dollars in grants to 15 local organizations. The funding will support a variety of essential services, from building wheelchair ramps and providing home repairs to upgrading meal delivery vehicles and senior fitness equipment. To date, this local fund has provided nearly a million dollars in support to area seniors.
