Medical Minute - 1:57

Dave Kurten: The 3WZ Medical Minute is brought to you by Mount Nittany Health. Our topic this week: lab services. Our guest: Eddie Corona, administrative director of lab services with Mount Nittany Health. Mount Nittany Health has improved the community’s access to laboratory services. Can you describe how community members can get lab work completed?

Eddie Corona: Sure, Mount Nittany Health offers lab walk-in services at a variety of locations throughout the region, so that it’s more convenient for the patients than having to come directly to the hospital for the services. We provide a complete lab service, so any testing that the patients need, we can provide the testing either on-site or arrange to have the testing performed at an esoteric laboratory such as Mayo Clinic.

Dave Kurten: Where can community members go to receive lab work?

Eddie Corona: There are many sites across the region, as I mentioned. Certainly, the hospital will continue to be a primary source. The physicians’ office building on Park Avenue, adjacent to the hospital, is available, along with physicians’ offices in Bellefonte and Penns Valley in Spring Mills. The people in the community can find the hours of operation for these locations at mountnittany.org. There is no appointment necessary to have your testing performed. Just come on in whenever it’s convenient.

Dave Kurten: Do community members have to be a patient of Mount Nittany Health in order to get lab work completed at one of these locations?

Eddie Corona: No, not at all. Any patient with a prescription can come in; just bring your lab orders with you, and we’ll arrange all the testing.

Dave Kurten: Where can community members get more information on the lab services available by Mount Nittany Health?

Eddie Corona: They can go to mountnittany.org on their computers, or they can call the hospital and we will answer any questions they may have.

Dave Kurten: Eddie Corona, administrative director of lab services, has been our guest on this edition of the Medical Minute. Thank you for your time.

Eddie Corona: Thank you very much.
